Capital Health is moving forward with a $60 million micro-hospital at 280 Middletown Boulevard in Langhorne, right next to Oxford Valley Mall, Lower Bucks Times reported. It'll be the first facility of its kind in Bucks County and the fourth in the broader Philadelphia region.
Capital Health has owned the site since 2019, when it operated as Barix Clinics of Pennsylvania. The building already has four operating rooms, inpatient beds and an active Pennsylvania hospital license, cutting years off a ground-up build. The project stalled after the original 2019 announcement. It's back now, branded Capital Health, Oxford Valley, offering inpatient and outpatient care.
Hospitals and micro-hospitals pull retail with them: pharmacies, urgent care satellites, food and coffee for staff and visitors, medical office tenants who want to sit close to the referral pipeline. This site sits in what's already a dense retail corridor around Oxford Valley Mall. A confirmed $60 million anchor reopening after a seven-year stall is worth positioning for before the ribbon cutting.
